WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN

After being in San Francisco for a filming of a TV show (more on this in the coming months :) Seoul Sausage was only a few days back in LA when we got a call from our friend Tim.

Tim was in charge of booking chefs and restaurants for World Central Kitchen, a disaster relief organization lead by Chef Jose Andres. His team was looking for chefs/restaurants to partner in Los Angeles for the #chefsforthepolls campaign leading up to the election. Tim was also our respected friend from Oxnard where we had neighboring restaurants. Special shoutout to Scratch Kitchen (damn I miss that homemade ketchup!)

From Oct 24 to Nov 3 (11 straight days) we were commissioned in front of LA’s very own Staples Center to feed the poll workers, the voters, and anyone else that could use a meal. During this time, we got to meet and work with the some of the most amazing volunteers and staff from WC Kitchen. Every single one of them had such big hearts to lend their spirits and time. We also got to meet some cool friends along the way:

Phil Rosenthal came to help out one day. We shared good laughs about good eats in Koreatown and his recent travels filming for his latest season of Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix.

We bumped into LZ Granderson who just voted and he even gave us a shoutout on LA Times. Thanks LZ!

Did we mention how awesome our volunteers were? Special shoutout to Yennie our Rockstar helper =)

Tim, Jason, Anna, David & Ramiro and everyone else at World Central Kitchen, thank you guys. Chef Jose Andres, we have been watching you and rooting for you from a distance. But to actually be a small part of your efforts in real life was a truly inspiring experience. The positive vibes and energy of WC Kitchen was alive and real. Thank you.
