SCROLL DOWN

brothers ted + yong launched the company in 2012 and soon, they’ll be ringing in 10 years of seoul sausage.

The brothers are returning to their roots of slinging sausages and making memories. To celebrate and commemorate the decade, we had a candid conversation where Ted and Yong interviewed each other — digging deep into the ups and downs that followed. They wouldn’t be here without you — their fans, friends, and family. We’d love to hear from you on how you first found out about us and your memories with us. Help us #ShareSeoulSausage.

pre 2012

The beginnings weren’t as grandiose as people think. Seoul Sausage was a culmination of timing and passion that converged with our pride in our Korean American identity as we both initially came from the world of advertising.

2012

We opened our first brick-and-mortar location in the Sawtelle neighborhood, graced the cover of magazines, and received media exposure left and right as we came off the heels of a first place finish on Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race Season 3, which was televised nationally.

2015

We were onto some bigger and better things as we opened our first full-service restaurant and a second outpost in Little Tokyo. It would go onto become the most expensive business lesson for us as first-time restaurateurs. This period of time had some of our highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows.

2018

Times were tough and we had to pull the plug on our locations. We went out in style, hijacking our own restaurant with the support of Hite Jinro and launching Seoul Chicken Company. It felt we were starting over — starting a new company. We made a move to Crafted Kitchen, a shared kitchen and pivoted to catering and serving coliseums like LAFC’s Banc of California. We were cranking out lunches, operating 3 different ghost kitchen brands and dedicated our time to rebuilding.

2021

Leading up to 2020, we finally had regained our footing. Unfortunately, as the rest of the world would find out, we were knocked down and sales went to zero soon after COVID-19. Thankfully, we made our debut on Goldbelly and shipped out our food nationally into homes of millions of Americans. An opportunity to reappear on Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race on Season 12 All Stars allowed us to dig deeper and find yet another reason to keep on trucking along.

2022

Through the decade, we learned that we’re two resilient brothers. And that Seoul Sausage is a Korean American brand — made in America. We’re hoping this is the year that we make the leap into wholesale and foodservice distribution to different regions all across America. Korean flavors have been adopted into American homes and palates, and we want to be at the forefront of that movement.

and many more to come.
